Introduction
Megan is an economist in the Food Markets Branch of the Food Economics Division (FED) at the USDA, Economic Research Service (ERS). Her research focuses on food price forecasting, food price data development, and the intersection between food prices and consumer purchasing decisions. She is the steward of the Food Price Outlook, which provides data on food prices and forecasts annual food price changes up to 18 months in the future. She also manages the Food-at-Home Monthly Area Prices data product, which provides monthly food price data over time, across food groupings, and across geographic areas.
Background
Megan rejoined ERS in 2022 after working as an energy industry analyst at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. She previously worked at ERS in the Diet, Safety, and Health Economics branch of FED, managing the agency’s scanner data product. Megan was also an economist for the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the Employment Projections program and the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey program.
Education
Megan has a Master’s in applied economics from the University of Maryland and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame.
