Briefly

Katherine Lacy is a research agricultural economist in the Farm Economy Branch of the Resource and Rural Economics Division at USDA’s Economic Research Service (ERS). Her research focuses on the changing distribution of farm and ranch sizes, the resilience of local food systems, and the impacts of health and tax policies on rural and socially disadvantaged households. Prior to joining ERS, Katherine was a faculty member in the economics department at the University of Nevada, Reno, and affiliated with the Nevada Agricultural Experiment Station.

Education

Katherine completed her Ph.D. in economics from Iowa State University and holds a B.S. in mathematics and economics from St. Lawrence University.
