Event Details

  • Date: 2/27/2019
  • Time: 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Duration: 1 hour

Description

In March 2018, Congress directed the USDA’s Economic Research Service (ERS) to conduct a study on the economic benefits of breastfeeding, including potential cost-savings for USDA’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and Medicaid.

ERS conducted a study examining the economic impact of increased breastfeeding rates in WIC from the perspectives of the WIC program, the Medicaid program, and WIC households or their health insurance providers. In this webinar, ERS Economist Mark Prell presents the results of this study.
