Webinar: Rural Manufacturing Resilience - Factors Associated with Plant Survival

Event Details

  • Date: 5/23/2017
  • Time: 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Duration: 1 hour

Description

Manufacturing provides jobs and income that individuals, families, and communities in rural areas rely upon. In a recently released ERS report, Rural Manufacturing Resilience: Factors Associated with Plant Survival, 1996-2011, ERS Economist Sarah A. Low examines rural manufacturing plant survival during a 15-year period that includes two recessions and a longstanding decline in manufacturing employment. In the report, Low links an in-depth ERS survey to quarterly administrative employment records so that the relationship between plant- and community-level factors and survival can be examined.

In this webinar, Low summarized findings from the ERS report while also explaining the data and modeling technique used in the analysis.

The webinar was recorded and closed captioned.
