Briefly

Scott Callahan is an agricultural and environmental economist in the Farm Economy Branch of the Resource and Rural Economics Division of USDA, Economic Research Service (ERS). Scott is an ERS subject matter expert on agricultural land use, land tenure, and land values.

Background

Scott grew up in Gold Canyon, AZ. He joined ERS in July 2019. Prior to joining ERS, Scott was a visiting professor at Appalachian State University. His research focus is on heirs’ property and agricultural land valuation, with additional interests in nonmarket valuation and hedonic analysis.

Education

Scott attended North Carolina State University (NCSU), studying agricultural and environmental economics. He earned his Ph.D. in economics in 2017 and his M.S in economics in 2014 from NCSU. Scott earned his B.S. in economics from Arizona State University in 2012.
