Charles (Chuck) is an economist in the Food Markets Branch of the Food Economics Division at USDA’s Economic Research Service. His research interests include applied economics, food retail markets, food security, local food systems, socioeconomic inequality, geo-spatial analysis, data-driven techniques, and causal inference.

Chuck previously worked as an extension marketing specialist at the University of Tennessee’s Center for Profitable Agriculture. He also served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica, focusing on community economic development.
