Webinar: Three Decades of Consolidation in U.S. Agriculture
Date: Tuesday, March 27, 2018
Time: 1:00 p.m. EDT
Duration: 1 hour
Host: James MacDonald
U.S. agricultural production has shifted to much larger operations over the last three decades. Consolidation has been persistent, widespread, and pronounced in crop production, and dramatic in some livestock sectors.
In this webinar, James MacDonald, Chief of ERS’ Structure, Technology and Productivity Branch, will assess these shifts, drawing on a recent ERS report. Despite ongoing consolidation, family farms continue to dominate U.S. agriculture. James will document the importance of family farms and will discuss the role of large non-family corporations play in organizing and coordinating some agricultural production. Read report.
